Anybody know the guy (Colin) in this picture?https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455930-anybody-know-the-guy-colin-in-this-picture/ Right, big shout out to Soulies in the South, Brighton and surrounding areas. The picture below is off an old mate called Colin, who I knew when I lived down there in the 9ts, haven’t seen him since, and I can’t for the life of me remember his second name. I moved up to London in 99 and lost touch, anyhow I have a ton of Photos of Colin's and his mates at the 100 club, late 8ts/early 9ts by the look of them, which I’d love to return, anybody know him on here?

Many Thanks in advance.

My Grandmother, who has sadly passed away, used to venture there in the 60s.

So - want to know if anyone had more info on the Club or even ventured there themselves.

Thank you in advance.

Satellite Weekenders - Please post in Nite or Alldayer..https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/430954-satellite-weekenders-please-post-in-nite-or-alldayer/  Can all promoters of 'Satellite Weekender's (ie events that are being held in the same location and on the same weekend as a major weekenders) please post up the 'weekenders' either up in the soul nite or the alldayer section of our event guide

'Satellite weekends' due to their nature don't really fit in with the way our weekender guide works, as it is setup for the more traditional weekenders.

Thanks

Victor Meldrew syndrome?https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455858-victor-meldrew-syndrome/ Not a topic to have a whinge about what irritates you,  more have you become more or less tolerant as you have got older. Do the little things that used to pass you by now irritate the hell out of you or can you let them go. I've had several conversations lately with men of a similar age , some with friends and others with strangers at the bus stop for instance. It usually starts moaning about the bus being late and progresses from there  into the general lack of respect, manners etc and onto the current hot topic of the week.

Please don't turn this into your own personal bug bear we've had threads before on that and I know Mike isn't keen on a moan fest. I'm more interested in the "is it just me" aspect , do life's minor irritations get to you more ,do you avoid the news and live in your own bubble, I watch the news more now than I have ever done and maybe that contributes to me joining  more conversations being better informed, it used to be a mantra of mine at work that no I don't watch the news I've got enough crap going on in my own life without worrying about things I have no control over.

Due to the positive attitude of Lou my partner I am a lot more philosophical about things that go wrong like a recent dropping of my phone in the toilet, Ah well s**t happens ,it wasn't fully submerged ,wouldn't charge afterwards but thankfully Professor internet offered the solution. Years ago I would have moped about for days cursing my luck.

I got talking to a guy outside my Granddaughter's  school waiting to take her home, she recently moved schools, when i told the guy I wouldn't be there anymore and I'd miss our conversations he said more or less the same adding "who am I going to have a good moan with now". Do you find it does you good to get things off your chest especially to another man, does the Victor Meldrew in us leach out as we get older. I have changed from a glass half full to being thankful for everything I have.

Mods please feel free to lock topic if you think it's going to turn into the above mentioned "moan fest" which wasn't my intention.

Source Admin Log - Going ons..https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/450802-source-admin-log-going-ons/ Ok people as have a bit more time available now to spend on the admin side of things on here, read the below...

One thing always felt needed an improvement on here,  is letting people know what's going on or/and how things work and the thinking behind things/actions/decisions

Plan is as 'admin' things happen will try and make a note in this topic just to inform and try and keep all members aware of everything soul source related on the admin and moderation side

To get things going a couple of member related admin tasks that were carried out

Active/inactive members

We do close accounts after 3 years inactivity but as just done we can reopen once aware that the member has logged in again (a monthly check) as long as its within a year of the closure, as we delete after 4 years

This is done as per data protection/privacy concerns, we are signed up to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under the Data Protection Act 2018. and do follow their UK GDPR guidance

Spam Members/Bots  - Getting Cleverer

There is an increase in the amount of posts by spam bots/members who appear to be getting cleverer all the time both thru ai and manual posting methods. sometimes hard to spot as they do quote other members posts in what at first seems a normal way but once you look at things deeper you can see what they are up to

If you do notice that a post by a new member has gone missing then there is a good chance that the member has been marked by us the site as a  'spammer' which will then automatically delete all the spammers content and closes the account

Ok that's about it for now as said will try and keep this 'admin' related topic both informative and worthwhile

As always if you do have any q's on anything admin/moderation related you are always more than welcome to shout them up via comments, new topics or if rather pm me or any of the team

European teams will discover their 2026 World Cup qualifying opponents in Friday’s draw, which will be held at 11:00 GMT in Zurich.

A total of 16 Uefa teams will qualify for the expanded 48-team tournament to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

You can watch the draw live on the BBC Sport website - along with live text commentary - and on the iPlayer.

So how does it work – and who could the home nations face?

eBay queryhttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455750-ebay-query/ I recently sold some 45’s to a buyer on eBay. The same buyer won 3 separate auctions and paid £15.00 postage. I sent the 45’s in one package which cost £6.00 and therefore, decided to refund £9.00 for combined postage which the buyer was happy about. I transferred my eBay balance to my bank and received an email confirming that my request to refund excess postage was being processed. I subsequently received an email indicating that eBay had been unable to process the refund. This is a copy of the email :-

We attempted a payment that was initiated by you on 2 Dec 2024 for the owed amount of £9.00.

Since this charge has failed, we will deduct £9.00 from your total funds pending payout.

If your total funds pending payout are insufficient, your payment method on file will be charged pursuant to your authorisation in the Payments Terms of Use. We may aggregate all outstanding amounts owed.

I’ve just sold some more 45’s to a different buyer who has made payment, but I can’t figure out how to remove the hold on payment out to me which eBay seem to have imposed despite there now being sufficient funds for them to collect the £9.00 refund above and my having  updated the preferred payment method for paying selling costs on eBay.

Ive got another auction ending tomorrow with at least 1 bid on so am keen to get the situation resolve asap.

Anyone have a solution?

Royal mail deliveryhttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455670-royal-mail-delivery/ I had a near neighbour knock on my door Sunday afternoon saying a parcel had been delivered by the Royal Mail to my address, which it had not,she also said the driver had not tried to deliver it to her address because they had been in all day, I explained to her the parcel was not at my address.

2 hours later her partner turned up and asked the same question and showed me the proof of delivery on his phone, which showed my address pinpointed on the map and a hand taking the parcel in but no number on the door or any discerning features to identify my property and definitely not me taking the parcel.

Has anyone any idea what action if any I should take because I am worried that the neighbours think I have stolen the item.

Car Warranties - are they worth it?!!!!https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455631-car-warranties-are-they-worth-it/ Hi Soulsource members.

Has anyone got experience of taking out an extended warranty on their car. I've never had one other than what the second hand dealership gives you of a few months. I'm part exchanging my car tomorrow for one that is three years old and is just out of it's maker's warranty. The salesman, someone we know as a family friend but who remains a salesman nonetheless, is raving over a warranty company that his dealership uses. The warranty he is pushing is through a company called MBi Autoguard Warranties (Premium). It would either be for fifteen months or three years. For three years it is just under £400.00 which works out around £11.00 per month. I have tried review forums to try and get a feel for this being worth it or not and each has reviewers praising the company or slating them in equal measure!!! There seems to be nothing in between!!!! I have read the sales brochure and it does seem to exclude a heck of a lot that would be covered!!!!

My question is does anybody have experience of this company and it's warrantties or even of car warranties in general? I have to make my mind up tomorrow I suppose, one way or the other!!! Any advice on the company in particular would be much appreciated?

Regards.

Drew.

Cover ya phone...https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455593-cover-ya-phone/ A welcome policy?

A new nightclub is opening this week with a strict rule that your smartphone camera must be covered with a sticker.

Amber's in Manchester is the latest in a handful of venues in the UK to enforce the policy - but in cities like Berlin, renowned for its nightclubs, it's the norm.

Royal Mail tracking problemshttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455587-royal-mail-tracking-problems/ I'm looking for a bit of help please.

Is anyone is having trouble with the Royal Mail tracking page ?  Maybe it's me, but these two are giving me a headache, and I wonder if anyone can check them out for me.

The first one is a US incoming parcel. It shows on USPS site okay, and it DID show on the UK RM site, but it was hit and miss, up till a couple of days ago, and now it won't work atall.

https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item#/tracking-results/LV672970434US

The second one is a UK Parcel I sent out (to Talk Talk) using a pre paid sticker couple of days ago (Accepted at PO no problem).

https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item#/tracking-results/OT242490028GB

In each case I the numbers turn to red and I get an error message. "Sorry, there was a problem, please try again".

So if anyone can test them and let me know what you get, that would be great.

Thanks
Mick

What should you do if you think your parcel is stolen?https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/455358-what-should-you-do-if-you-think-your-parcel-is-stolen/

The below showed up this morning....

Parcel theft is becoming increasingly common as more people shop online, with new data showing more than £370 million worth of parcels were stolen from doorsteps across the UK in the last year.

The technology company Quadient found that more than three million homes had at least one parcel stolen in the past 12 months.

The average value of stolen goods increased by 52% - rising from £66.50 in 2023 to £102 this year.

However, only one in 333 thefts are reported to the police.

So what should you do if you think your parcel is stolen?

All You Need is Lungs - Lung Cancer campaign launches todayhttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/454694-all-you-need-is-lungs-lung-cancer-campaign-launches-today/ Sad to say this campaign is really important to me. My wife, Christine is featured if you go into the personal stories. The thrust is to make us all much more aware that the stereotypes of how people get lung cancer stop people from realising that there's only one certain factor - all you need to get lung cancer is to have lungs.

If you're on social media it would be great if you could share the main (2nd) link and spread the word.

The Night Of The Desperate Djs...https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/454518-the-night-of-the-desperate-djs/ That time of the year again

The night where there may be a chance of a 1 hour spot going at events run by not so aware promoters

So look out for people anxiously glancing at their watches with a 50 box half hidden under the table, ready to save the day

Clocks go back Sunday 2am

https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/when-do-clocks-go-back

On the last Sunday of October in the UK, the clocks go back by one hour.

It may feel like a long time since the blue skies of summer, but the moment when the clocks go back marks the end of British Summer Time (BST).

Good news: it also means an extra hour in bed.

An easy way to remember which way the clocks change is to think of the seasons: in spring the clocks ‘spring forward', while in autumn they 'fall back'.

The clocks will go back in the UK on 27 October 2024 at 2am.

One to watch , My name is Ottillehttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/454335-one-to-watch-my-name-is-ottille/ Soul singer Dana Masters asks whatever happened to Ottille Patterson , once the rising star of popular music in late 1950s Brittain - and some say , the godmother of British Blues .

BBC iPlayer in the music category , with the 100 Club and other venues , and possibly the first Irish Lady of Soul .

Aurora alerts going through the roof for tonight.https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/449992-aurora-alerts-going-through-the-roof-for-tonight/ In case anyone's interested the flaring from the enormous sunspot I've been imaging has thrown a lot of stuff in our direction , and the storm arrived a short while ago and looks great for views of the aurora pretty much UK wide , weather permitting of course.

Here's hoping you have clear skies.

The Joker Folie a Deuxhttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/454030-the-joker-folie-a-deux/ Went see #folieadeux

It's ok, songs predictable, it's grim, not quite as good as the first, tests the nerves at times  it's a musical, but there's a rendition of The Joker (Byron Peterson Combo) a copy of which I have in my collection, surprised to see it in there, they Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix  butchered it but fitted the movie. The original here 👇

eBay Scrap Private Sellers Fees For Ukhttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/453938-ebay-scrap-private-sellers-fees-for-uk/ interesting move from ebay Uk

msm quote/link

'Online retailer eBay has scrapped fees for private sellers across almost all of its categories as it attempts to keep fast-growing rivals such as Depop and Vinted at arm’s length.

The move means eBay’s UK sellers no longer have to pay transaction fees, except for cars, motorcycles and other vehicles.'

'On Tuesday, eBay said its move, which has taken effect immediately, meant private sellers would no longer pay so-called final value fees or regulatory operating fees when they sold on the site.'

Silky Wilford - Artisthttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/453965-silky-wilford-artist/ had the below sent in to site, thought worth a pass on here in freebasing

'I would like to introduce to you the music of Silky Wilford.
An amazing British composer and singer, but always too busy working too hard to put the deserved attention on promoting her own songs.
She's heavily soul-neosoul-r&b-jazz influenced, so I think you guys will definitely appreciate her music.

Her spotify profile, with 4 singles, is Silky Wilford, on this link:'
