    CLARENCE GREEN - DOIN' IT - AQUARIUS 1002 - 200 GBP Lovely yellow issue. Just one tiny visible but not audible scratch shy of EX grade. Labels clean. A bit too funky for my liking. So I'd like to offer it to trade 1:1 for something less funky of similiar value. 60s Northern preferred. Can supply label scan/sound file if required. Please PM for further details.

    The market was flooded with Fred Hymes copies in the early 2k. Think they all came from "Brookly-Born" (aka Rich Rosen). Allegedly old store stock.

    Seems to be an issue with the bulk upload interface or users not filling in the template correctly. I've come across many items on Discogs recently that have silly price tags on first look. But on second look it's just the decimal place that is wrong, e.g $1850 instead of $18.50.

    There's a Joyce Harris who sang with the Slades but obviously wasn't in the band (them being an all-male outfit). Texas release. Cholli Maye Gold 45 is from the east coast. Same singer? I doubt.

    Maybe it's the demand from the Northern scene that increases prices in absolute numbers. But I think it's been the lowrider/sweet soul 45s that are skyrocketing these days in relation to what they did cost say 10/15 years. And many if not most of them are bought by UK collectors.

    nice little 2min documentary. It's not saying Northern Soul went away and is now coming back. It's saying it's popular again with the youth/younger crowd. And that it's all about dancing and everybody's welcome. Of course you have also some "journalistic inaccuracy". Like when the voice-over talks about rare US soul records and the vid shows a CD player And of course you have the obligatory Wigan Casino reference in it.

    Soul Inc 7" and LP version of WGUMCD sound like the same version to me. Clearly studio recordings. Maybe they didn't have enough live material for an entire album and added this studio cut?

    According to Discogs and based on the linked YT vids as reference (and I know how easy it is to link the wrong video) my understanding is: 7" Emblem 101 - Soul Inc. WGUMCD (Studio Cut) LP Emblem 106 - Soul Inc WGUMCD (Studio cut, rest of album is "live") 7" Emblem 109 - Charts Unlimited WGUMCD (same song but completely different version) Correct? PS: Sorry for hijacking the John & Wierdest thread.
